Her debut novel, INVISIBLE, went on sale in 2014, and became an Amazon Top Ten Kindle Murder best seller. It’s about a woman trapped in a controlling marriage, who suddenly becomes an unseen victim of crime – and the most hated woman in Britain. Bella magazine said of it: “Totally gripping and scarily believable characters. One of the most assured debuts of the year.”
Barbara’s second novel, FLOWERS FOR THE DEAD, has been even more successful, charting as soon as it was released last year, and reaching Number 3 in Psychological Thrillers.
The terrifyingly realistic tale of a serial killer stalking his victims and killing them in the name of love has gained an army of fans and critical acclaim. “A chillingly drawn serial killer. Will have you looking over your shoulder and under your bed… Original, gripping, with a deep psychological impact,” declared The Sunday Mirror.
Barbara believes her experience as a national newspaper and magazine journalist has given her unrivalled insight into the criminal world.
“I’ve spent over twenty years as a journalist, interviewing real people who have been victims of crime, either directly or through the loss of loved ones,” she says.
“As a result of people bravely and generously sharing their experiences with me, I know a lot about the emotional impact of violence and wrongdoing.
“That’s why my novels are not simply about the criminal act, but the repercussions they have. People like me and you are always at the heart of my thrillers.”
The Kings Heath author is also the book reviewer for Chat’s Inside Crime, a quarterly magazine.
